Have you heard me talk about vive la femme? Well, you probably have, since I mention it in nearly every post! Stephanie Sack is the beauty and the brains behind vive la femme, Chicago’s premier plus size boutique, and she’s celebrating 10 years of delivering fabulous fashions and gorgeous clothes to the city’s curvy community. One of my favorite designers, Kiyonna, is sponsoring the event, and it’s sure to be a fun and flirty evening!
Come join me at vive la femme on Thursday, April 26th from 6-8pm and try on some of Kiyonna’s latest designs, hobnob with other curvy cuties, and add some critical pieces to your spring wardrobe–all while helping Stephanie celebrate 10 years of business!
Chicago Fashion Connect mixers are the perfect time to mingle with key players in the fashion industry. I love the energy in the room with so many designers, models, makeup artists, bloggers, and more chatting and laughing and discussing the business. This time, we converged on Supreme Novelty Fabrics–which proved to be a colorful, unique and inspirational backdrop for the event. It made me wish I could sew!!!
And here’s some shots of the fabulous people I connected with! I always LOVE running into Cha’rron of CChicChicago.com!
How adorable is Omar of GOCA Designs? He’s getting to know a stylist here from Australia and David, a talented student who is interning with Plus Fashion Week. 🙂 FUN!
So cute!!!
Marco Foster from Chicago Models was our official host for the evening’s open model call. So many beautiful guests walked the runway in order to get exposure for their careers and try out for Chicago-area fashion shows.
It was a nice night with a unique twist. I had to leave a little early, but I had some interesting conversations and met a ton of new people in the industry! If you haven’t attended one of these events, put it on your calendar!
What a fantastic event this was! Last week, the wonderful staff at Ruby Room here in Chicago graciously hosted an event called “Beauty and the Blogger.” It was a night of delightful pampering…both body and spirit. I’ve been to the Ruby Room before to buy makeup, but I had no idea they had a full salon and spa…and a whole floor dedicated to spiritual healing!
My friend Perry of Alluring Chicago and I had such a blast at this event!
I love my outfit! Peplum skirt from Asos; Animal print shirt from Forever 21; Belt from Lane Bryant.
I didn’t take pictures of the upstairs at the Ruby Room, but it’s full of spiritual-related items. They have intuitive readers and healers on hand to help you get/stay grounded. I had an intuitive reading, and got my chakra cleansed. 🙂
I’ll definitely be going back to the Ruby Room! If you haven’t been lately, be sure to check it out!
Hello lovelies! I’ve been swamped lately, and I’m sorry if you felt neglected!!! I’ve got a new job, a new haircut…and just signed the lease on a new apartment. So, really…I’ve hardly had time to catch a breath! But things are starting to settle down a bit now and I should have more time now for the blog. 🙂
First, thanks to everyone who took the spring trends survey! Apparently, y’all LOVE colored skinny jeans…so I went out and bought some to try (even though they’re not my favorite!). This outfit is a little out of my comfort zone and I’m actually not sure if I like it or not. What do you think??
Cobalt Skinny Jeans: Kut from the cloth via Nordstrom Rack; Striped blazer: Forever 21; Black heels: Me Too
This outfit definitely makes for a colorful casual Friday! The graphic print on top with cobalt on the bottom is a strong pairing that is definitely noticed out on the street. This look can be replicated with any color jeans and a graphic print top.
Who else has tried colorful skinny jeans this spring? Do you think this trend is going to stick around for a while, or fade back to the comfy blue hues we know and love?
