Plussize News Roundup: July 25

Have you noticed the increase in fantastic coverage of plussize events/news lately? Check out this week’s news roundup.

Listen Up, Fashion Companies: Plus-Size Women Are Literally Just Waiting to Give You Our Money (xoJane): Columnist Veronica Miller comments on Christina Binkley’s video of a WSJ Live interview about the plussize fashion market–which was prompted by Vogue’s choice of June cover model, curvy girl Kate Upton. Watch the interview below.

Plus Size Clothing Sold Online But Not In-Stores Poses Problem For Shoppers (Huffington Post Style): The article notes how difficult it is for plussize women to shop in stores in the U.S. because of the limited size ranges popular retailers carry in their brick-and-mortars. It also summarizes the findings of Modcloth’s recent survey of plussize shoppers.

Full Figured Fashion Week: It’s Not Your Average Runway Show (Forbes): This article is pretty much a profile for Gwen DeVoe as the creator and personality behind Full Figured Fashion Week. Great exposure for the event…but wow, what a diva!

If Obesity Is a Disease, Why Are So Many Obese People Healthy? (Times Ideas): In light of the American Medical Association’s recent decision to classify obesity as a disease, this article raises the very pertinent point that people of all shapes and sizes are healthy and unhealthy and that obesity does not automatically make someone unhealthy.

Casual OOTD: Asos Curve Baroque Peplum Top

OK, true confession: I do not do casual very well. If I have the choice between dressing down or dressing up, I almost always go UP…way UP! But, sometimes you just want something loose and comfortable to wear with a pair of skinny jeans. So this weekend, I brought out the Asos Curve Baroque Peplum Top from my Gwynnie Bee closet.

As you can see, the top was made out of a light, thin cotton, and had a nice muted blue print. It fit quite loose, so I would size down if you want more of a cinched-waist look.

Throw this on with some wedges, a colorful long necklace and some skinny jeans…and you have the makings of a cute, casual look for summer.

Plussize Lingerie Shopping Guide: Hips and Curves

It’s time for another post highlighting plussize lingerie and where to buy it! Looking for the perfect outfit for a steamy or romantic night with your partner? Time to visit one of my favorite sexy lingerie online shops, Hips and Curves.

Each piece on this site is unapologetically sexy and built especially to show off curves to their best advantage. I’ve been a fan of this site for years, and I was thrilled at the opportunity to review a few of their pieces. I could not turn down the Strappy Stretch Lace Bra and the Midnight Rendezvous Stretch Lace Garter Belt. HOTT!!

This demi bra is so ridiculously sexy! The half cups hit just above the middle of the breast, and the straps stretch across the cup and join the support straps at the shoulder. This structure hints at bondage…but in a sweet and playful way.

The fit was perfect, so order your true size. Also, it comes in a number of different colors, so pick the one that turns you on!
Love the label!

And then we have the adorable black lace garter belt! The lace stretches easily across your hips, and the clasps can be adjusted according to the length of the thigh highs you’re wearing with it.
And from the back, there’s a cute keyhole at the waist…and bow details all around.
Worn together, this is a sexy look that’s liable to make your partner stop in his/her tracks. Or…if you’re daring, wear it during the day under one of your pencil skirts and feel the thrill of keeping a sexy little secret!
There are SO many other sexy items to choose from at Hips and Curves…bra and panty sets, corsets, bustiers, lingerie and hosiery galore! Even costumes! Go now and have fun imagining the possibilities!

OOTD: Bringing Bright Back with Coral and Teal

I’m having a love affair with bright colors this summer…and my heart leaped with joy when I added this coral and nude Jessica Howard sheath dress to my Gwynnie Bee basket. I knew immediately that I wanted to pop it with teal accessories. Coral and teal…popping a bright color with bright accessories!

Love the high neckline on this dress, which makes it perfect for conservative offices, while the strong color and bold print add a playful element. Also, the side-tuck detail at the waist adds some definition and shape to this silhouette.

My assessment: excellent fit, great color, and a perfect dress to brighten up the office. It’s one of this week’s new arrivals at Gwynnie Bee, so be sure to add it to your queue! Still don’t have an account? Sign up here.
