Take a peek at the redesigned Bloomingdale’s and visit me for a plussize pampering and styling event!

The Bloomingdale’s at 900 N. Michigan has been revamped…and whoa…it’s awesome! A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to tour the renovations with my fellow bloggers from Chicago Bloggers Network.

All of my fellow beauty and fashion bloggers with our little brown bags from Bloomingdale’s. 🙂

The entire cosmetics section has been renovated…now there are separate beauty stations for each brand–modeled like the Chanel counter here…and there are several brands exclusive to Bloomingdale’s such as SpaceNK Apothecary–a cosmetics line out of London.

There’s another awesome brand called Illamasqua…a colorful line that encourages experimentation and fun with makeup! Check out one of the makeup artists sporting bright blue eyebrows. lol.

Pretty little bloggers all in a row.

The sunglasses section had me drooling!!!!

And I couldn’t resist getting my picture taken in the revamped jewelry section. Ah, a girl can dream, eh? This adorable mod dropped waist red dress is from ASOS Curve…it is rather short, so if you don’t like showing that much leg, then put on some tights or hose. Oh, and aren’t these Rag and Bone gold ankle boots to die for??

If you haven’t checked out the new and improved Bloomingdale’s store on Michigan, do it…and do it THIS SATURDAY, when I’m hosting an event in their plussize section, The Shop for Women. Come between 1-4pm, and I’ll help you shop for something fabulous. There will be mini-makeovers by Illamasqua, massages and some light bites. I’d love to see you there!

I am CURVY, hear me ROAR!

How happy are you with your curves? How many chances do you take in your day-to-day fashion? Sonsi is in the business of helping curvy women feel beautiful and confident, and they want to know how you feel about your curves. Find out your Curvy Quotient with this 2-minute test from Sonsi…and get personalized recommendations for outfits that will boost your CQ, as they call it.

I took the test and found out that I was Confidently Curvy – which means that I embrace my body and make bold fashion choices. 🙂 So, the Confidently Curvy looks are all a little edgy…from color blocked body-con dresses to leather paneled skirts to see-through lace tops. I knew that for my signature Sonsi look, I had to live up to the Confidently Curvy score, so I went all the way!

I chose a TIGER print dress from Queen Grace. Did I mention it was TIGER PRINT?? I have a closet full of animal prints, but I couldn’t pass this one up. I had to have this dress. It hits all of my high notes…from the printed jersey fabric, the black triangle darts at the waist, to the 3/4 length sleeves and the V neck that was just vampy enough for the office…this is a dress that says…I am CURVY, hear me ROAR!

With a dress that says so much, I didn’t need to over-accessorize…so I threw on some chunky gold jewelry and some black pumps and strutted right out the door.

The tiger print is definitely bold and unexpected, and even when I was ordering it, I thought, “Are you really going to wear this??” But I did, and I love the dress and felt confident and fabulous all day.
Why don’t you give the Sonsi CQ test a shot and see how far you can push your comfort level? After you get your results, head over to the Sonsi Twitter Party on Tuesday, October 15 at 8pm CT/ 9pm ET for tips, tricks and stories to help you #BoostYourCQ. Also, some lucky tweeters could win up to $300 in gift cards, just for participating! Not a bad deal, huh?
Grrrrrrrrrowl.

Alabama Glama in the Kiyonna Luna Lace Dress

Did y’all know that I’m from Alabama? That’s right…born and raised! And one of my all time favorite places in my hometown is the historic Alabama Theater. Golden columns, red velvet seats, antique organ, marble floors…it’s a beautiful place full of drama and glamour. I knew I had to do a photoshoot there the last time I was home, and this Kiyonna Luna Lace Dress in sapphire fit the mood of this gorgeous southern theater perfectly.

Sapphire is one of Kiyonna’s new colors for the Luna Lace dress, and it’s sublime. This color is so rich and flatters a number of skin tones, and it also comes in a luscious green called “Green Ivy.” One of my favorite features of this dress is the neckline, which is
augmented by a nude mesh insert…it looks revealing, but offers full
coverage, concealing bra straps! The waist is ruched and the skirt
flares down just past the knee–so ladylike!

This antique organ comes up from below the stage and the organist plays show tunes and Christmas carols during the winter. Such a fun tradition!

I popped the sapphire color with bright pink Steve Madden pumps. Nude, red, or even yellow would look adorable too.

Where would you wear this lovely, ladylike dress?  I’ve already worn it to my sister’s baby shower and it’ll be a go-to piece for the holiday season. Get yours now…I know you’ll love it!
