Voodoo Vixen Plus Size Retro Sailor Print Dress

Sometimes, nothing else will do but an adorable retro dress in a fabulous sailor print. This plus size sailor print dress from Voodoo Vixen* is everything my vintage-loving heart could desire! From the bright gorgeous red to the white scalloped sweetheart neckline and trims — I’m swooning! The nautical print is a mix of anchors and steering wheels which has me wanting to set sail — even though I get horrible motion sickness! What I love about this adorable plus size retro dress: I’ve already talked about the charming nautical print. The full 50s silhouette is so great for women of all sizes — the nipped in belted waist with the sweetheart neckline is so flattering! And the cap sleeves are big enough for my arms, without being too big or gaping. I’m wearing a size 3X, since their dresses run a little snug — especially if you have a large bust. I’m in between a 2X/3X, so I opted to have a little more room. Bring on the boat parties! In a dress this cute, I am tempted to forget that I get motion sick and will sail away into the sunset!

Plus Size Swimsuit: Swim Sexy

So many sexy plus size swimsuits have flooded the market! Five years ago, there were ZERO bikinis for plus sizes, and extremely limited choices in a range dull colors. How times have changed!! Colorful, fun, sexy and trendy plus size swimsuits are EVERYWHERE now! And have you seen the ad campaigns related to them? The halter top and highwaisted bottoms in this fun dot print made me feel like a retro pinup girl from the 50s. Swim Sexy suits run small, so definitely order one size up and it’ll fit perfectly!

I wore this plus size bikini during my recent trip to Iceland when I visited the Fontana Geothermal Baths as part of my “Warm Baths, Cool Lights” Tour that I booked with IcelandAir. The scenery was spectacular, and the chance to experience the geothermal baths like the locals was amazing. And OMG if you go, you have to taste the bread that’s made there — they bake it in underground ovens with the natural heat from the earth. AMAZING.

It almost Memorial Day…and that means — get out your gorgeous white dresses! Although I’m a big believer in breaking fashion “rules” and don’t really abide by the “no-white-after-Labor-Day,” I can’t deny that Memorial Day feels like summer and summer means white! The white eyelet is so crisp and the sleeveless shape with a collar and a tie belt feels preppy and not too sweet.

The key to a great plus size white dress is quality fabric. It can’t be too see through and it needs some structure. That’s what I love about this Jessica London dress. The eyelet fabric has some structure and is weighty enough so that when placed over the white cotton lining, you can’t see through it. I bought this dress as a “maybe” — because I thought the midi length might look a little frumpy and shapeless. But I’m SO glad I got it…the length hits me just below the knee and flares out a bit. The sleeveless shirtdress silhouette looks immaculate when rendered in white eyelet. The tie belt pulls it in and gives me a relaxed shape. Overall, it’s a great dress and I’ll definitely be wearing it throughout the summer!

This cotton shirtdress is my favorite! No really — I loved it so much in the red stripe (see the post here) that I had to have it in the polka dot too! Wear it with flats or with a fabulous pair of heels like these Steve Madden red fringe sandals that I found at Macy’s a few months ago!
