The plus size fashion industry has exploded and new amazing labels are debuting all over the world. It’s truly an exciting time for plus size fashionistas who have been craving more options for years! Universal Standard is a plus size line defined by its modern aesthetic, clean lines and fashion-forward designs. Their minimalist pieces have truly filled a hole in the plus size market. I was so excited when they joined the ranks of Gwynnie Bee brands and I was able to try this Universal Standard Geneva Dress risk free as part of my monthly subscription*.

I don’t like sticking to one style. I am a plus size fashion lover and I have love affairs with all of the different eras and styles. Sometimes, I’m in the mood for a 50s pinup look, sometimes I want to go for a strong #girlboss style, and other times, I want to go graphic and bold and a little 60s mod. Today is one of those days! This High Neck Crepe Dress from Simply Be is a little odd and very mod. I love the wide windowpane black and white print. And the high neck speaks to this style’s 60s roots. A funky extra is this stepped hem — it’s shorter in the front panel and is longer at the sides and back. It creates visual interest and drama — and ensures that your look is far from boring!

I think this bright blue Kristin Blake coat provides a fabulous contrast to the graphic print of the dress, don’t you? Add your own colorful topper and some booties, and see where your day takes you!
This yellow skirt was so bright and cheery, I had to have it when I saw it at Lane Bryant earlier last month! I always love pops of yellow in the spring, but for once, I wasn’t feeling pastels or florals. Instead, I wanted to put together an outfit that was graphic and modern and bold, so I opted to pair the Modernist Circle Skirt with a window pane print halter top with a tie at the neckline and these awesome Coach peep-toe booties. Fresh, modern and bright…just what the change in season calls for!
I love the vivid, bold colors and graphic prints that define most pop art, and when I find it on a plus size dress that features big red lips…well, you know I’m gonna buy it! I got this last here at Posh Shoppe (an online plus size retailer with funky fast-fashion finds). Unfortunately, it’s out of stock, but here’s the link in case it comes back. This dress is short and fits your curves like a glove. I paired it with an ankle-length duster and some peep-toe booties for some extra edge. Are you feelin’ it?
SAILOR PANTS, Y’ALL! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I swooped through my local Lane Bryant. I saw, big, beautiful, bright white, wide-leg, high waisted sailor pants–complete with gold buttons down the front. I fell in love instantly…and had to take them home and give them a whirl right away!
Definitely size up — I’m an 18/20 at Lane Bryant, and went with the 20 so that the buttons laid right across my tummy. Find a way to show off the buttons — either tuck in your shirt or wear a crop top. I went with black, but navy and any type of stripe will look fantastic! On my 5’9 frame, the pants were just a smidge too short, but I imagine that shorter gals will love where the hem falls with heels. So, there we are…my dream of plus size sailor pants has finally come true!!!
