Get Ready to Sail Away in this City Chic Sundress

It’s nearly sundress weather and I’m already packing them in to my closet! This City Chic Riviera Handkerchief Hem Sundress has me longing for a day out on a sailboat or at a summer barbecue. I know, I know…I’m not a huge fan of the handkerchief hem trend that we’ve been having in plus sizes for about 3 years now, but it works on this dress because it’s breezy and light and catches the wind just right.

The French blue and white abstract pattern of this sundress is fresh and can be dressed up or down with just a switch in your shoes. Simple neckline and adjustable straps…simple, easy, and stylish. I found mine at my local Nordstrom, but City Chic is in several stores and online marketplaces, so I’m sure you’ll be able to find it or another fabulous sundress to add to your spring/summer wardrobe!

Neon Florals in Sunset Hues in this City Chic Dress

LOOK! These colors are amazing! Bright oranges and blues and teals! This City Chic plus size maxi dress is everything a floral-dress-lover could want. I’ve had a not-so-secret obsession with City Chic, and I love that they are becoming easier and easier to find! They have been in Nordstrom for a few years, and online since the beginning. But now they’re in Macy’s and on Gwynnie Bee as well as part of the Fullbeauty suite of brands! I spotted this dress on Fullbeauty.com, but sadly they are already sold out (but check out the other fabulous City Chic pieces they care here)! It’s clear that City Chic is taking over the world…and why not? With killer dresses like this at fabulous price points, I can’t help but be a huge fan.

It’s the bright colors that are the most stunning part of the dress, but the design is also great. The bodice has seaming under the bust and smocking around the waist to provide a more defined shape. The rest of the fabric is light and flowy, skimming your curves. And the high-low hemline actually works with this silhouette, giving it a freedom and lightness of movement.

Here’s another amazing plus size dress from Classiques Entier, Nordstrom’s in house luxury brand. From the silk georgette floral material in this deep green with pops of yellow, to the A-line shape with a nice pleated v-neck and short cap sleeves…this dress is super flattering from head to hem. It lays so perfectly over your curves and I completely felt like a million bucks when I slipped it over my head!

Lemons on the Beach: Plus Size Swimsuit featuring Forever 21 Plus

Forever 21 Plus has really stepped up their plus size fashion game lately. Not only did they debut a plus size activewear line recently, but they are continuing to put out some of the absolute MOST DARLING plus size swimsuits on the market right now. I bought my first “fatkini” at Forever 21 last year, and it’s still one of my absolute favorites (see the post here). This year, I was all set to buy another 2-piece, but as soon as I laid eyes on this ADORABLE Forever 21 Plus Size Lemon/Leaf One-Piece, I had to have it!

This one-piece plus size swimsuit features a vibrant, lush leaf pattern with pops of cheery yellow lemons throughout! It’s ruched down the front and has a retro halter neckline. The overall effect is magic for curvy bodies — and creates a retro “bathing beauty” silhouette. When I put on these Saint Laurent 102 Surf Retro Sunglasses from Nordstrom, I nearly swooned at the sight of them together!

It’s still cold here in Chicago (it was only 42 degrees when we did this shoot!!), but I’m already dreaming of how and when and where I’m going to wear this swimsuit this season!

Rachel Roy Curvy Plus Size Collection

Rachel Roy just debuted a Curvy Plus Size Collection! Rachel Roy is a high end clothing designer known for her classic, feminine silhouettes and bold use of color and patterns. She launched her label in 2004 and later expanded into ready to wear…and now, FINALLY!, she has debuted the RACHEL Rachel Roy Curvy Collection, available at Macy’s and on her website. And guess who could NOT resist trying it out?? Especially when I ran across this Rachel Rachel Roy Curvy Plus Size Sleeveless Sheath Dress with oversized pockets on my last Macy’s shopping trip!

According to this Refinery 29 interview with the designer, she describes her target woman like this: “The Rachel Rachel Roy woman is curious and adventurous; she has a career, so she has the need to look professional, pulled-together, and polished. She’s the younger sister to Rachel Roy, so the price point is lower and more affordable. But who the customer is really the same throughout, despite the category.”

That’s seriously exactly how I feel about this dress. It’s such a simple shape, but I feel so polished! I can totally wear this to the office this spring/summer but can also wear it on a number of other occasions. It’s a sturdy knit and has a super flattering A-line shape. The v neck and pleat down the center make the dress feel like an origami masterpiece…and when you add the oversized pockets…you have a polished, chic sheath dress…for plus size ladies!
