Getting Twisted in this Vintage Blue Kiyonna Plus Size Dress

TWISTED! Every time I order a new dress from Kiyonna, I’m convinced that it can’t get any better than the one I had before…but IT DOES!! One of the newest styles is this Tantalizing Twist plus size dress. It’s got the great bust line that Kiyonna is known for (making the gals look fab!) and the bare shoulder cut outs that are having a moment right now. Of course, the waist line cinches in the silhouette while the fabulous draping on the skirt hangs just perfectly. This dress was made specifically to show off a curvy body. And can we talk about this dreamy vintage blue color??

How to Dress Like a Plussize Pinup Bombshell, part 2

Hello Bombshells! I hope you all took my advice and rocked a headscarf and some red lipstick today to start your conversion to a bonafide bombshell! Now, I’m going to move on to the clothes and share some tips for injecting a little glamour into our everyday look. Every day this week, I’ll be posting another tip…and will illustrate them with adorable pieces from my Gwynnie Bee closet. Gwynnie Bee is the perfect way to try out new styles and play with fashion, so check it out if you haven’t already! Now, on to the tips!

#2 Wear animal prints
No
really. Animal prints are sexy and classic. Dior introduced leopard
print fabrics in his Spring 1947 collection, and since then, it’s been
associated with an exotic, feminine sexiness and total bombshell-hotness!
You can’t get more glamorous than vintage Dior, right? So take note and add a little (or a
lot!) of leopard print into your wardrobe.
This adorable SWAK Maggie Crinoline leopard print  halter dress is purrrrfectly on point for a retro-inspired bombshell look. (If you have a Gwynnie Bee account, find it here.) Navy Pier was the perfect place to flaunt this classic pinup dress!
This adorable dress features a halter neckline (great for accentuating those bombshell curves!) and ties at the shoulder–which makes it adjustable for a number of body types. Tie it high or low to make the bodice fit correctly! The seaming at the waist cinches you in and creates that retro silhouette that we’re going for. The A-line skirt lays perfectly over the hips, and it even has netting underneath to help the skirt flare out in a fun and flirty way.

I couldn’t resist doubling up on the leopard print–pairing the dress with these fun yellow wedges that I found at Akira a few years ago. Gold accessories complete the look.
I felt so flirty and sassy in this dress! Next time you want to up your pinup game, choose leopard print–or another animal print–and strut your stuff, beautiful!

How to Dress Like a Plussize Pinup Bombshell, part 1

Bombshell. Who doesn’t want to be called that?? It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with the retro pinup looks of the 40s and 50s…This era of fashion is just so perfect for girls with curves. It’s all about a womanly silhouette, and accentuates curves instead of hiding them. I think we all need a little bit more retro glamour in our lives, so this week, I’m going to give you 5 tips for dressing like a bombshell. Get ready!!!!

#1 Wear a headscarf when traveling
Seriously, scarves are sadly underused and underrated in today’s society. Pinup girls knew how to rock a headscarf for real. Pick one in a shade that really complements your eyes and complexion. Wrap it loosely around your neck and tie it in the back. Make sure it’s not too tight–It should frame your face beautifully. Also…throw some adorable sunnies on, and you will bring a little retro glamour into your day commute.

Skull and flower scarf from Valentia Boutique; Mark Jacobs sunnies via Nordstrom; Urban Decay F-bomb red lipstick via Ulta

If you’re going for the bombshell pinup look, red lipstick is a MUST. And some awesome full false eyelashes don’t hurt either!

Check back tomorrow for my next tip for dressing like a curvy, plussize bombshell!
