Plus Size Bikini: Blue Always for Me Swimsuit

When I was planning for my trip to New York City for Full Figured Fashion Week and the Golden Confidence Pool Party, I absolutely could not decide which swimsuit I wanted to bring. So what’s a girl to do when she can’t decide? She takes all 3 and has a few outfit changes during the event! This Always For Me Sundance Plus Size Bikini was one of my favorites, and I had to give it its due at the pool party!

So many sexy plus size swimsuits have flooded the market! Five years ago, there were ZERO bikinis for plus sizes, and extremely limited choices in a range dull colors. How times have changed!! Colorful, fun, sexy and trendy plus size swimsuits are EVERYWHERE now! And have you seen the ad campaigns related to them? The recent Swimsuits For All Swim Sexy campaign featuring Ashley Graham, Nicola Griffin, and Philomena Kwao was groundbreaking (see it here), and I seriously almost cried when I saw those beautiful, diverse bodies represented on a national scale. The halter top and highwaisted bottoms in this fun dot print made me feel like a retro pinup girl from the 50s. Swim Sexy suits run small, so definitely order one size up and it’ll fit perfectly!

I wore this plus size bikini during my recent trip to Iceland when I visited the Fontana Geothermal Baths as part of my “Warm Baths, Cool Lights” Tour that I booked with IcelandAir. The scenery was spectacular, and the chance to experience the geothermal baths like the locals was amazing. And OMG if you go, you have to taste the bread that’s made there — they bake it in underground ovens with the natural heat from the earth. AMAZING.

Lost in the Blue Lagoon in this Avenue Plus Size Swimsuit

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen pictures from my recent trip to Iceland (if you don’t, follow me here!). I completely fell in love with this country and it’s temperamental beauty (which I can totally relate to). A highlight of my trip included a morning at the Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa, right outside of Reykjavik. It’s one of the 25 Wonders of the World and it is breathtaking and magical! So what do you wear to one of the most beautiful places in the world? A fabulous swimsuit with tiered ruffles in shades of blue from Avenue Plus*!

From the mystical steam to the bright blue water — I felt like I was in another world! The water in the Blue Lagoon is blue from the Silica, Algae and Minerals that exist naturally in this geothermal pool. The water is about 100 degrees — so warm and delightful!

This one piece plus size swimsuit from the Avenue is great for traveling! It’s colorful, flattering and modest — and so cute! I felt secure and wasn’t fidgeting with it like I end up doing with a lot of swimsuits. I did order one size up (a 20 instead of an 18) — since this year, swimsuits seem to be running small (or I might be up a few pounds!), but just to be safe, I would definitely recommend ordering a size up.

Forever 21 Plus has really stepped up their plus size fashion game lately. Not only did they debut a plus size activewear line recently, but they are continuing to put out some of the absolute MOST DARLING plus size swimsuits on the market right now. I bought my first “fatkini” at Forever 21 last year, and it’s still one of my absolute favorites (see the post here). This year, I was all set to buy another 2-piece, but as soon as I laid eyes on this ADORABLE Forever 21 Plus Size Lemon/Leaf One-Piece, I had to have it!

This one-piece plus size swimsuit features a vibrant, lush leaf pattern with pops of cheery yellow lemons throughout! It’s ruched down the front and has a retro halter neckline. The overall effect is magic for curvy bodies — and creates a retro “bathing beauty” silhouette. When I put on these Saint Laurent 102 Surf Retro Sunglasses from Nordstrom, I nearly swooned at the sight of them together!

It’s still cold here in Chicago (it was only 42 degrees when we did this shoot!!), but I’m already dreaming of how and when and where I’m going to wear this swimsuit this season!
