Chicago is such an amazing city! There’s so much that you can see and do, so when friends and family come to visit, it can be a little overwhelming to pick and choose. Well, if you’re wondering what to do in Chicago when you have out of town guests, here’s my fool-proof list of the Top 10 Things To Do in Chicago!
If you’re looking for things to do in Chicago, look no further than an Odyssey Dinner Cruise that leaves from Navy Pier! It’s such a lovely experience to share with your out of town guests or your local friends, especially if you’re celebrating a special occasion. An Odyssey Dinner Cruise is a perfect night out – complete with a fantastic view of the city from Lake Michigan, a delicious dinner and dancing! I recently hosted a dinner party on the Odyssey for my family when they were here visiting, and I thought I’d share moments of that magical night with you!
Now that I live in Chicago and have out of town guests – I tell them to skip the Willis Tower and head straight to the 360 Chicago Observation Deck on the 94th floor of the John Hancock building. The 360 Chicago view CANNOT be beat and it’s so convenient to get to (it’s right on Michigan Ave). When my family recently visited me, I organized a trip to 360 Chicago. Here are the highlights from our visit!
When out of town guests come to visit me in Chicago, I always like to give them a gift basket of thoughtful gifts and treats. It’s such a nice way to welcome them to the city and make them feel special! Usually, I rush around the city trying to assemble a basket full of items that would appeal to my guests and relate to Chicago in some way. But those days are now over! I recently discovered the locally owned and operated “Send Them Chicago” gift basket company and had a chance to check out their “Windy City Welcome” offering. It is so cute, and my out of town guests were thrilled with the thoughtful Chicago-themed gift!
If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen pictures from my recent trip to Iceland (if you don’t, follow me here!). I completely fell in love with this country and it’s temperamental beauty (which I can totally relate to). A highlight of my trip included a morning at the Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa, right outside of Reykjavik. It’s one of the 25 Wonders of the World and it is breathtaking and magical! So what do you wear to one of the most beautiful places in the world? A fabulous swimsuit with tiered ruffles in shades of blue from Avenue Plus*!
From the mystical steam to the bright blue water — I felt like I was in another world! The water in the Blue Lagoon is blue from the Silica, Algae and Minerals that exist naturally in this geothermal pool. The water is about 100 degrees — so warm and delightful!
If you’re looking for your next vacation spot, you could definitely consider Iceland — it’s the adventure of a lifetime! And take a look at all of the great swimsuits and coverups that Avenue offers — I’m sure you’ll find one that’s perfect for wherever your travels take you.
