Winter Florals – Asos Curve Plus Size Floral Mini Dress with Frills
Winter has taken back the floral game, y’all! Gorgeous floral prints are not just for spring anymore, and the new, darker florals are not as sweet as you’re used to. Gone are the pastels and light, airy fabrics. These new winter florals have a darker, more mysterious tone. Look for floral with a dark color palette (black is my favorite!) and edgier prints in bold colors. I’ve been adding a lot of plus size florals to my wardrobe this winter, and in today’s post featuring this Asos Curve Mixed Print Mini Dress with Cold Shoulder and Frill, I’m sharing 3 things to look for when adding a winter floral to your plus size wardrobe.
A great winter floral is dark, moody and a little mysterious. When you look at it, you should feel like you are looking at something beautiful, but dangerous in some undefinable way. Like a beautiful flower that smells intoxicating, but is poisonous if you sniff too deeply. Or a rose bush that grows in a graveyard. Or a bloom that is so full and lush that you know it will soon start to wither and die. (wow, this post took a dark turn, didn’t it? lol)
This Asos Curve Mixed Print Plus Size Mini Dress has 3 different prints mixed together in a way that looks beautiful, and a little frantic. There’s a sense of energy to the placement of the prints, and the colors are bright, without looking sweet at all.
Winter florals look best against a dark background. I’m partial to black because it really makes the colors pop and it’s so easy to wear with black tights or leggings like I did here for some extra warmth!
I’m a big believer in clothes that have a sense of drama, and the winter floral pieces that make the biggest statement are those with a hint of danger or with some quirky frill or detail that make that piece stand out even more.
This Asos Curve Mixed Print Plus Size Mini Dress has both the drama and quirky details that I look for. The high neckline has a hint of Victorian Gothic romance and the asymmetrical placement of the prints is so unique. Even the cut out shoulders have a ruffle detail that adds drama!
It’s a mini dress, so I opted to wear it with tights and boots, but this also looks great over some skinny jeans as a tunic.
