When Gwynnie Bee asked me what my plus size style resolution was for 2017, I had to take a moment to think. It’s January, and everyone is making resolutions — and some have already broken them! Even though New Year’s Resolutions get a bad rap, I love them, and make resolutions for every area of my life — including my personal style! So when Gwynnie Bee asked me what I wanted to accomplish with my style this year, I took the question seriously. After much thought, I’ve decided that my plus size style resolution for 2017 is: to seriously up my casual game this year.

I know, I know. Going casual doesn’t seem that exciting for some people, but for me, it’s a stretch. The styles and silhouettes that I’m naturally drawn to are usually structured, fitted, feminine and office-appropriate. I’ve always been heavily influenced by a corporate day job, and I tend to focus a lot on looking fierce for the office, client meetings and networking events. Because of this, my casual game has seriously suffered. This year, with the help of my Gwynnie Bee subscription, I am going to bring some of that fierceness to my casual style. The key to a great casual outfit? It’s got to be comfortable AND cute! This year, I’m trying pieces like this City Chic Cropped Overlay Top. It’s got a vivid blue color that just pops against the off-white crepe tank top. The fabric has a nice stretch and has a banded scoop neckline that just slips right on. I love that the tank top is on the longer side, hitting right below the hips. It’s a great layering piece in the colder months, but will absolutely pop in the spring and summer months. I paired it with dark denim jeans and camel-colored boots, but this will look just as put together with some sneakers!
