Things to Do in Chicago: 360 Chicago Observation Deck

Now that I live in Chicago and have out of town guests – I tell them to skip the Willis Tower and head straight to the 360 Chicago Observation Deck on the 94th floor of the John Hancock building. The 360 Chicago view CANNOT be beat and it’s so convenient to get to (it’s right on Michigan Ave). When my family recently visited me, I organized a trip to 360 Chicago. Here are the highlights from our visit!

360 Chicago Observation Deck Offers Great Views and Convenient Location

When I have family or friends visit me in Chicago, I always take them to the 360 Chicago Observation Deck at the John Hancock Building. It is the perfect way to kick off a day of sightseeing! My family visited me earlier this summer and this was the first thing on our list – because they had never been! To start, we headed down to the lower level of the building where the entrance to 360 Chicago is located. After a short walk through the entrance display, we took a very fast elevator up to the 94th floor.

We had so much fun walking around the observation deck and taking in the views from every direction! The Observation Deck has many interactive learning opportunities on the city’s rich history, colorful neighborhoods and its iconic architecture, as well as a cafe and a bar where you can relax and have a snack.

Of course, we took plenty of selfies from every view!

I love that it wasn’t overcrowded, so my family and I were able to roam about and see everything without feeling rushed. From 1,000 feet up on the 94th floor, you can see up to 55 miles out and four states, so it is quite a sight!

The TILT Attraction at 360 Chicago

The TILT attraction is SO cool — it’s an enclosed glass platform that extends away from the building at a 30 degree angle. You can buy an add-on ticket for the TILT, and you definitely should do it! It’s amazing, and I swear NOT as scary as it looks in the photo below!

I felt perfectly safe, but my Mom was so scared, she stepped off the platform! Look at her face in the picture below!

It was so cool to see the city and feel almost as if you were flying above it! It was awesome. After the Tilt, we spent a little more time observing before heading downstairs to look at our official 360 Chicago pictures!

The whole experience lasted about 1 1/2 hours, and it was the perfect start to our day of sightseeing! I would recommend it to anyone hosting out of town guests in Chicago.

P.S. Thank you to 360 Chicago for sponsoring my group’s entrance fees to the Observation Deck. It was a wonderful experience!
