Plus Size Stitch Fix Review – Essential Fall Staples
I got my first Plus Size Stitch Fix box just about a year ago this month! So I decided to celebrate with another fix – this time focused on essential fall staples like tops and sweaters. I hope you know by now that Stitch Fix is an online styling service that has options for women sizes 00-24W and XS-3X (also petite and maternity options!) and has men’s sizes XS-XXL. And they just recently expanded into Kids clothing! They really have everyone covered. So what was in my box?! Read on to find out what came, what stayed and what went back!

For those of you new to the Stitch Fix online styling world – here’s how it works. Basically, for $20 per box, you will receive 5 items that fit your budget, size, and style. You can schedule your fix on-demand or on a regular cadence – monthly or seasonally. Once you get the box, you try on the items and choose the ones you like. If you make a purchase from the box, the styling fee goes toward your total. If you choose to purchase everything in your box, you’ll get a 25% discount on the total.
For this month’s fix, I asked for versatile basics that I could mix and match with existing items in my wardrobe. I was specifically looking for layering pieces because fall in Chicago is unpredictable and you need to be able to adjust your outfit as quickly as the weather turns!
Black Faux Fur Jacket – OBSESSED/Sent Back With Regret
Literally fell in love with this faux fur jacket the moment I saw it. It’s SO ridiculously soft! It’s easy to wear and perfect to layer over tops and sweaters. I love the easy, relaxed lapels on it too.
The ONLY reason I sent it back was that I already have a black faux-fur jacket (actually, I have 2!). I couldn’t justify adding another one to my bursting closet, so I sadly had to send it back. But I hope one of you get it in YOUR fall or winter fix, because you will LOVE it!
Burgundy Long Sleeve Top – LOVE/Kept
This wine/burgundy is the color of the season, and I can’t seem to get enough of it! I love this top because the color is divine, but it has something a little extra with these sheer sleeves that are gathered at the wrist.
This is a perfect layering piece — I can wear it on its own or put a vest or jacket or cardigan over it when the weather gets cooler. I also love that this isn’t too fitted. It’s a nice, loose lightweight knit. I kept this one, of course!
Beige Cardigan with Black Elbow Patches – Like/Sent Back
This is such a cool cardigan! I love the graphic print and the elbow patches. It is very easy to style and is extremely versatile. It would actually be a perfect Thanksgiving outfit! Wear it with black leggings and boots or with jeans and a colored top.
The material is a little heavier, so this is definitely something to pull out on blustery, cold days. I liked this, but in the end it wasn’t something that I absolutely had to have, so back into the bag it went!
Gray Roll-neck Poncho LOVE/Kept
I completely swooned over this cozy poncho! I don’t have anything like it in my closet since I usually steer clear of things around my neck. But this has a lovely, relaxed roll-neck and a loose fit that is just perfect for fall outings. I’ve paired it with leggings and some ankle booties for a chic girl-with-places-to-go look!
I like the rounded edge of this poncho, and it comes down long enough to cover my backside and tummy. It’s a gorgeous gray – the longer you look at the knit, the more flecks of color you see! This felt like a special, very wearable piece, so I just had to keep it!
Black Sweater with Cross-Hatch Sleeve Details LOVE/Sent Back
This black sweater is anything but basic. I LOVE the statement sleeves! The design has an open cross-hatch lacing its way down the sleeve. It fit beautifully!
This one was very hard not to keep. I actually went back and forth and kept taking it out of the return bag. But I actually don’t wear a ton of black and I have several black sweaters, so in the end…this one went back. I think that everyone needs a nice black sweater and this one has a little something extra! I’m sure you will love it if your stylist includes it in your next fix!
So that’s it for my fall essentials Plus Size Stitch Fix haul. What was your favorite item? Should I have kept the faux fur jacket and the sweater??? Tell me in the comments!
