Recently I attended a movie premiere for a movie I’m actually in! I wanted to go for an “Old Hollywood” look, and that means velvet! I got this plus size purple velvet dress from Lane Bryant that I thought was PERFECT for the occasion, and here’s how I styled it.

This dress is every bit as gorgeous, amazing, and luscious as it looks. I love the off the shoulder design which gives it a beautifully unique neckline. The high waist makes it comfortable and flattering, and the color is nothing short of perfect.

Sparkly Star Earrings

I decided to lean into the star vibes with my earrings. I have a gorgeous pair of sun and moon earrings that I feel like I wear with everything this time of year, but they are so perfect. Here are some super similar options that feature sparkly stars.

Gold Pointed Toe Shoes

When the dress is the star, it’s nice to keep it simple with the shoes. I chose gold pumps, with a pointed toe to elongate the look of the leg. I also thought these pointed toe slingback flats were cute so I linked those as well – the sparkly strap would tie in nicely with the earrings.

Colorful Clutch

And finally, a pop of color with a clutch! I went with a bright orange and pink clutch that I have, and it added a really nice color contrast with the dress. Any of these options I found would look beautiful with the purple.
