Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

Valentine's Day Gift Guide
Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

I love Valentine’s Day! Especially in Chicago, it’s something to look forward to in the dead of winter. And I never want to turn down an occasion for gifts! Valentine’s Day gifts can be tough, because in my opinion they need to be more romantic and thoughtful than the Christmas gifts you just gave and received. And sometimes it can be really tough to buy for your partner! So I put together a gift guide for you – gifts for her, gifts for him, and gifts for either!

For Her

Let’s start with the obvious – there’s nothing more romantic than a dainty piece of jewelry! But sometimes that entire category can be hard to shop in, because there are so many options to choose from. Here are some of my favorites.

I got this heart pendant necklace from Nordstrom recently and I’m obsessed with it. It’s so simple and small, but so pretty. I also found this textured chain link necklace that’s great for layering. And then there’s this beautiful glassy squares necklace, which has the perfect subtle sparkle to it. So in love!

Next stop on the dainty jewelry train is bracelets. The heart pendant necklace has a counterpart in this heart station bracelet which is so cute! And then the textured chain link necklace comes in a bracelet as well! You could even put both together for a set. And then I also found a smaller version of the chain link bracelet that’s even daintier, which is such a pretty piece to layer with other bracelets. Both chain bracelets come in multiple colors too if gold isn’t your girl’s metal of choice.

Our third and final section of dainty jewelry: custom! I found this seller on Etsy who does gorgeous, custom minimalist jewelry for a very reasonable price. I included some of my favorites here: the flower name necklace, the initial tag necklace, and the small custom name rings.

Ok I’m done with the dainty jewelry! I have one more jewelry piece here, which are these gorgeous floating crystal earrings that come in a bunch of different colors (obviously the pink is my favorite). And then we’re moving on to some of my favorite gifts: things that smell good!

I was once told that one of the best gifts you can give someone is to go into their bathroom and see which of their favorite products are running low, and then buy them their next bottle. If you don’t have that kind of access, a nice smelling perfume, cologne, or body creme is a great option. I love Jo Malone Mimosa & Cardamom, which I linked here!

If your romantic vibe is less luxury and more cozy, here is a final set of gift ideas that might suit you best. I have a couple options for fuzzy socks that are always fun to wear for a romantic night in. And if you have someone who loves to journal, this beautiful embroidered journal is still one of my favorite gifts that I’ve gotten.

For Him

Now onto the gifts for men! I don’t know about you, but I find men incredibly hard to shop for. But I’ve put together some ideas that I’ve heard people give, or things I’ve given to my fiance in the past.

We’ll start with clothing, because sometimes guys forget to buy that for themselves! We all know that one guy who never replaces his ratty athletic pants, so here are a couple nice options that will leave your man looking great. I also love a good graphic tee, I recently got Tim a chess themed one because he loves chess! It can be a thoughtful gift if the graphic has meaning – either a favorite game, character, or band.

Watches always make a great gift for guys! They can sometimes be a very personal style choice, but I found these two that I think are both classic and modern. You can’t go wrong with a clean looking watch!

We talked about how guys sometimes don’t replace their clothes, but in my experience, they take even longer to replace their wallets! And I know a lot of men who complain about their wallet being too thick. So here are a couple minimalist, thin wallets that can help fill that gap.

For the guys who love making fancy drinks, this gift is for them! There’s nothing fancier than fancy ice! You can do large spheres or large squares, or both. Either way, these cubes are sure to be a hit at the next gathering.

For Either

And finally, gifts that would be great for either gender! One thing I can’t link here is the experience gift – whether it’s a date at a fancy restaurant, an architecture boat tour, ice skating, or a cool experience you found on Groupon, it’s hard to go wrong with experiences spent together.

If you’re still looking for a physical gift, one of my favorite romantic and meaningful gifts to get is a photo frame (or set of frames) with actual physical pictures put in them! They can tell a story of your relationship, or just be a single meaningful photo. I have a couple frame sets linked that are super reasonably priced. And then my final gift idea is a massage gun – which admittedly seems a little out of place, but sometimes your body just needs a little help, and that can be nice to get too.

So there you have it, my Valentine’s Day Gift Guide! I hope I inspired you for a gift for your partner this year!
