One of my newsletter subscribers recently asked me about shape wear – whether or not I use it, and if I do, which brand(s) I would recommend. The answer is yes! I definitely use shape wear. I don’t necessarily use it every day, but I believe it has its place. And I certainly have some favorite brands to recommend. Let’s dive in!

Plus Size Shape Wear

My new favorite when it comes to shape wear is the brand Honeylove. It’s a relatively new find for me, and I am completely obsessed. Sizes go from XS to 3X. It has amazing shaping strength and is much more unnoticeable underneath a slip dress than other brands. I’m personally more a fan of a brief in general because I like my short hemlines, but if my skirt covers the shorts I’ll go that way so I don’t have to worry about chafing! Both Honeylove styles have the compression that I like at the waist, but alos have a breathable mesh panty (and short) so you get a little more airflow.

My go-to before I found Honeylove was the Spanx high waisted brief, which was a great everyday shape wear. When I wanted more compression, I would wear the Lane Bryant high waisted brief – they had reinforced panels over the midsection that did a great job of smoothing and compressing while still being comfortable. The only downside to these is that they actually show under more delicate fabrics, which is why I went searching for other brands. But don’t get me wrong – I still go back to these when I need to!

When I know I’m going to be in jeans or sitting all day, I opt for a shaping tank instead. I personally prefer the open-bust variety, but I couldn’t find any to link. So I pulled these from Honeylove that I’m thinking about getting soon.
