Plus size fashion has come a long way in the past few years! I distinctly remember the moment – 2 years ago – that I found this plus size One Shouldered Drape Maxi Dress from City Chic at my local Nordstrom. Nordstrom had just started carrying the Australian brand, and I was so thrilled to find young, modern and more affordable plus size dresses within my reach. It was a big deal and in my mind, truly revealed the coming changes in the plus size retail industry.

I wore this strikingly modern black drape dress to Chicago Latino Fashion Week in 2013 and experienced one of the highs of my life in fashion. Everyone — and I mean everyone — thought that I was a designer or one of the models in the show. Paired with bold accessories like these Gold Boots from Rag & Bone and this Lightening Bolt Pink and Gold clutch and these bright aqua blue earrings, and I felt like a goddess.

It was a great night, and this dress made it even more special. The draping, the modern loose fit and the unexpected details make this a dress that I’ll be keeping for years to come!
I put this Ellos Striped Shirtdress on for a quick photo shoot, and no less than 3 people stopped and told me how much they loved it! And this was only about a 5 minute shoot. This yellow skirt was so bright and cheery, I had to have it when I saw it at Lane Bryant earlier last month! I always love pops of yellow in the spring, but for once, I wasn’t feeling pastels or florals. Instead, I wanted to put together an outfit that was graphic and modern and bold, so I opted to pair the Modernist Circle Skirt with a window pane print halter top with a tie at the neckline and these awesome Coach peep-toe booties. Fresh, modern and bright…just what the change in season calls for!

It’s Throwback Thursday, and I found this never-before-posted outfit that I absolutely LOVED from this fall. I had to share it with you! I found this great forest green v-neck tank midi dress at Forever 21 and topped it off with a blanket scarf that I found at Francesca’s. When I added my Rag & Bone gold boots, this became one of my favorite outfits of the season!
