Can leather can be classy and elegant?? I love leather looks, but sometimes they can verge on the harsher, give-me-a-whip side of fashion. So I absolutely had to try this plus size Leather Sheath Dress from Jessica London that I saw on Fullbeauty.com. I went with black (although it comes in a gorgeous shade of dark raisin too!) and I awaited the package with a lot of excitement and a little bit of dread. Leather doesn’t stretch or give at all, so will it fit? Will I look like a dominatrix in this dress? Where on earth will I wear it??? All of these questions bounced around my head. But…when it came and I slipped it on…it fit perfectly! And as you can see, it’s a simply elegant and tasteful LBD. No whips needed!
I didn’t want to go over the top with accessories, so I just wore a simple necklace and earrings, a streamlined clutch and simple leather bangle. The strappy sandals provided just a hint of the dark sex-appeal that leather is known for, but definitely doesn’t go over the top.
SAILOR PANTS, Y’ALL! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I swooped through my local Lane Bryant. I saw, big, beautiful, bright white, wide-leg, high waisted sailor pants–complete with gold buttons down the front. I fell in love instantly…and had to take them home and give them a whirl right away!
Definitely size up — I’m an 18/20 at Lane Bryant, and went with the 20 so that the buttons laid right across my tummy. Find a way to show off the buttons — either tuck in your shirt or wear a crop top. I went with black, but navy and any type of stripe will look fantastic! On my 5’9 frame, the pants were just a smidge too short, but I imagine that shorter gals will love where the hem falls with heels. So, there we are…my dream of plus size sailor pants has finally come true!!!
Fresh off the Marc Jacobs SS16 catwalk, plus size style icon and former Gossip frontwoman BETH DITTO took a minute to LAUNCH A NEW PLUS SIZE COLLECTION. I mean…like it’s NBD. As soon as I saw the fresh, fun prints and architectural designs of the skirts, dresses and jumpsuits, I fell in love. Some of her SS16 pieces truly push the envelope…like this black see-through harem pant Liquid Black jumpsuit, and some pieces have fabulous details like ruching over the tush (for maximum booty pop) and convertible elements like elastic hems and multiple belting options. The line is available in sizes 14-28, with pricing running from $65 and up to $395. I simply HAD TO HAVE the Lola Skirt in Noir and the Summerweight Tee in the “Eat Your Makeup” Print!
I usually shy away from chunky knit sweaters…something about them has always had me feeling frumpy whenever I tried one on. However, I’ve been trying to go for more simple, stream-lined outfits lately and thought I’d work with a fashion staple like this one. This Ellos Black Chunky Knit Sweater is from Fullbeauty.com, and I was so surprised when I put it on! It wasn’t frumpy at all. In fact, I felt oh-so-chic! So here are 2 ways that I came up with to wear a chunky knit sweater–one is more classic and the other is funky and fun!
First up… a classic and chic black and white look.
Next, I wanted something a little funky and fun…so I added a sequin skirt, a cat hat and a funky bag!

But if quirky accessories aren’t your thing, this outfit looks good by itself too!
Sometimes I just want to wear something fun and a bit quirky–particularly on the weekends. So today, I pulled out this adorable sequined Ulla Popken Studio Untold Penguin Shirt and a Red Skater Skirt that I got a few months ago from Fullbeauty.com. Even though these items aren’t available any more, this is an easy look to replicate! Take a fun tshirt or light sweater with a cute animal on it (check out this Flamingo Sequined Sweatshirt or this Parrot Sequin Shirt), and pair it with a brightly colored full circle skirt. From there…you can add leggings and boots for warmth or just some simple flats when it gets warmer. It’s a simple look that will have you feeling fun and carefree while you’re running around this weekend!
