Read my lips! Embrace your quirkiness this Valentine’s Day! Bring out your graphic tee and get our your harem pants on. Wear your red lips and your high heels and don’t forget your sassy fresh attitude! This Lip Print top is actually a fabulous bodycon dress from Boohoo Plus that I bought last year. Unfortunately, it’s not available any more, but I still pull it out when I really want to make a statement! This year, I found these awesome City Chic Wrap Front Harem Pants at Nordstrom and this funky, fabulous V-day look was born!
The day they brought the peplum back in style, was a day that will go down in plus size fashion history! I know that some of you never saw the appeal, or are perhaps sick of it already…but I am a die-hard fan! And when I see fresh and modern takes on this classic shape like this Finn Abstract Peplum Top from Fashion to Figure, my soul rejoices a little more. From the bold, colorful paint brush print to the peek-a-boo detail at the neck…this peplum top is so fresh it hurts! And when you add a little sex appeal in the form of this Kaira Faux Leather Midi Pencil Skirt and a pop of Cherry Red Prynn Patent Tote, you’ve got a fabulous twist on an office wear classic silhouette. I’m in LOVE!!!
If you saw yesterday’s post, you know I’ve been collaborating with Fashion to Figure to bring you 3 perfect transitional outfits! It’s still freezing cold here in Chicago, but most of the country is starting to thaw out…and jumpsuits are perfect to transition to spring! This Black and White Wren Striped Jumpsuit from Fashion to Figure is super comfortable — made out of a loose knit that drapes over your curves. It’s sleeveless, so throw on a light layer like this Sloane Coated Blazer when you’re outside…and if you get warm, just slip it off. The stripe of the jumpsuit is pretty bold, so I played it down with some ladylike accessories — layers of pearls and this Lucian Color Block Snake Clutch took this look from playful to classy!
I love the ruching on the sleeves of this blazer!
Check back tomorrow for my last outfit post of this series!
I found the most adorable plus size red peplum top at Fashion to Figure! If you haven’t heard of this retailer, you need to check it out immediately. Trendy, fun pieces at truly affordable prices. It’s fast fashion, so items turn over quickly and there’s always something new. Like Forever 21, you’ll find unique clothes that push the traditional envelope for plus size gals — hemlines are higher, necklines are lower and prints and materials are more daring than other plus size retailers. I’m thrilled that I get to work with them on a series of 3 posts this week. And first up is the perfect cute and casual look — a red peplum top and skinny jeans with leopard details! Perfect for Valentine’s Day, but also great for all occasions throughout the year!
Sofia Amoruso’s #GIRLBOSS is full of great quotes such as “A #GIRLBOSS is in charge of her own life. She gets what she wants because she works for it.” Over the past year, I’ve taken this attitude to heart and it has informed the way I approach my life, my career, and my wardrobe. Instead of mailing it in when I am in a rush to get ready in the morning, I take time to figure out what image I want to project at the office. I make a conscious effort not to blend in — no one gets ahead by being invisible and keeping their head down. What’s my #GIRLBOSS wardrobe recipe? Strong, classic silhouettes in bold colors like this Citron Calvin Klein Textured Sheath Dress paired with stand-out accessories like these graffiti pumps from Brian Atwood. Just be sure your hemline and neckline are not too revealing and resist the temptation to over-accessorize!
