How to Dress like a Plussize Pinup Bombshell, part 5

Hello gorgeous, plushy pinups! If you’ve been following this series, then you’ve already been rocking headscarves and red lipstick, adding leopard print into your wardrobe, pulling out that hot red dress, and sporting playful girly dresses! Now…all that’s left is to add a dose of sailor-girl glamour!

#5: Say, “Hello, Sailor!”
Sailor-inspired frocks are so fresh and flirty–and they’re totally pinup! Sure it’s cheesy…but it’s cheeky too…and that’s what we’re going for!

This Talbots Sailboat top from my Gwynnie Bee closet might not look too pinup-y on it’s own…but throw on a pencil skirt and some cute heels, and bam…bombshell!

 “Aye, aye Captain!”

Also, it doesn’t hurt your pinup cred to go find a boat to stand in front of and pose! 🙂
So, that’s it for this pinup series…but I regularly post Plussize Pinup features and retro-inspired looks, so check back often. Hope you liked it!
Now go out there and wow the world with your hotness!

How to Dress like a Plussize Pinup Bombshell, part 4

Dressing like a plussize pinup doesn’t have to be all serious and sexy. It can be flirty, girly and fun!

#4: Be playful with your clothes and wear bright, bold accessories.
The way I see it, the pinup look celebrates the girly girl on the go. Bombshells are always out having fun…or on their way to having fun. From the clothes, to the hair, to the accessories–this look exudes a playful brightness and smacks of confidence.

When I saw this sweet Cherry Velvet purple polka dot shift dress in my Gwynnie Bee closet, I immediately felt a jolt of girly pleasure. (If you have a Gwynnie Bee account, find it here. If not, what are you waiting for?!). I knew the perfect place to wear it…on a carousel ride!

How could you not have fun in this outfit??

I’m a sucker for cute polka dots!!
This silhouette is a fairly simple sleeveless shift dress that hits right at the knee. It has seaming at the waist and bodice which adds a little structure and helps the skirt flare out a bit. The polka dot print is so sweet and flirty, while the extra detail of the keyhole in the back adds another fun element to this dress! If you’re quite chesty like me, the bodice might be a little snug–so wear a good bra that lifts the girls high!

I LOVE carousels!! Can you tell by my happy glow?

The last part of this bombshell series is coming tomorrow, so check back!

How to Dress like a Plussize Pinup Bombshell, part 3

Hello bombshells-in-training! Today is the third part of my five-part series on how to optimize those curves by adding a little pinup glamour into your wardrobe! All of the outfits I’m featuring this week are from my Gwynnie Bee closet. Jealous??? (You don’t have to be! See what it’s all about here.)

#3: Wear red
Red is hot. Red is powerful. Red is sexy. But it can sometimes be hard to pull out that gorgeous red dress and wear it on an ordinary Wednesday. Well wait no more! Put that dress on today.

Case-in-point. See Dita Von Teese? She’s sporting a hot red dress AND leopard print accessories. *Swoon.

If head-to-toe red is too much to start with, focus on red details and accessories. And don’t forget to break out that red lipstick! This adorable SWAK Lizzie Collar Dress (Add it your Gwynnie Bee closet now) is exactly what a bombshell-in-training should be wearing!

The adorable deep v neck of this dress is framed by a wide notched collar with darling red piping. That red piping is really what sets this black dress apart and makes it pinup worthy! It’s made of the lightest soft cotton and has a tie at the waist that you can cinch to define your shape. Add red pumps, accessories and lipstick, and you’re on your way to pinup perfection!

I LOVE Ferris Wheels, and couldn’t pass up the chance to take some snaps while high up over the city!

What do you think? Are you ready to wear red???

How to Dress Like a Plussize Pinup Bombshell, part 2

Hello Bombshells! I hope you all took my advice and rocked a headscarf and some red lipstick today to start your conversion to a bonafide bombshell! Now, I’m going to move on to the clothes and share some tips for injecting a little glamour into our everyday look. Every day this week, I’ll be posting another tip…and will illustrate them with adorable pieces from my Gwynnie Bee closet. Gwynnie Bee is the perfect way to try out new styles and play with fashion, so check it out if you haven’t already! Now, on to the tips!

#2 Wear animal prints
No
really. Animal prints are sexy and classic. Dior introduced leopard
print fabrics in his Spring 1947 collection, and since then, it’s been
associated with an exotic, feminine sexiness and total bombshell-hotness!
You can’t get more glamorous than vintage Dior, right? So take note and add a little (or a
lot!) of leopard print into your wardrobe.
This adorable SWAK Maggie Crinoline leopard print  halter dress is purrrrfectly on point for a retro-inspired bombshell look. (If you have a Gwynnie Bee account, find it here.) Navy Pier was the perfect place to flaunt this classic pinup dress!
This adorable dress features a halter neckline (great for accentuating those bombshell curves!) and ties at the shoulder–which makes it adjustable for a number of body types. Tie it high or low to make the bodice fit correctly! The seaming at the waist cinches you in and creates that retro silhouette that we’re going for. The A-line skirt lays perfectly over the hips, and it even has netting underneath to help the skirt flare out in a fun and flirty way.

I couldn’t resist doubling up on the leopard print–pairing the dress with these fun yellow wedges that I found at Akira a few years ago. Gold accessories complete the look.
I felt so flirty and sassy in this dress! Next time you want to up your pinup game, choose leopard print–or another animal print–and strut your stuff, beautiful!
