Everday Style: Monday – Wednesday

Here are my outfits for the week so far. As you can see, my work clothes tend to be on the conservative side with some fun elements weaved in. None of these really have a “wow” factor, but they are easy to jump into when I’m running late (which is everyday!!).

Monday
-Decided to rock the 60s theme with a bright yellow floral dress, white lucite accessories, nude pumps, and a big up-do.

Tuesday
-Went light and summery with a navy sheer dress and leopard wedges.

Wednesday
-I was planning to go to a concert in the park tonight, so I wore pants for the first time this season! Polka dot tank top, instant sleeves, and flats completed the casual “I can lounge around on the grass and not flash anyone” look.

What do you think? Any style tips for me?

Interpreting the Trends for Curvy Gals

Source: Fabsugar

According to fabsugar.com, “mint green is “the season’s surprisingly cool color.” In their trend posts, they include pictures from the runway and celebrities that show off the trend, and then provide a “Shop This Look” section. However, it never includes plus-size options for curvy girls. So, I decided to look around and see what I could find in the trendy minty-green color.

1. Torrid’s Mint Bandage Tube Dress (on clearance right now!)
3. Igigi Lila Eyelet Blouse
4. LucieLu Lace Party Dress in Mint
What do you think? Will you be wearing mint green this fall? Fabsugar also offers the following advice (which I agree with!):

“The color can seem a little like candy, but paired with the right colors we think it will provide a fresh, cool contrast to neutral tones like camel, charcoal, gray, and slate for Fall. If you’re keen to try one of the season’s bold color combos, pair mint green with royal blue or deep shades of red. Avoid other pastels, so you don’t look like you missed the Easter parade.”

If you find any other mint green pieces, post them here!

Dressing Room Diaries, Forever21+

So, I decided to take the camera into the dressing room with me to show you the good, the bad, and the ugly of the latest fashions at Forever21. I was on my lunch break when I took these pics, so I didn’t have a ton of time…but here you go. I’ll try to explain why I decided for or against each item. Maybe you’ll find some inspiration for your own outfits. Or maybe you’ll just laugh at some of the terrible pictures I take…

As soon as I put this leopard print top on, I knew I was going to buy it! The cut was perfect for my apple  shape, skimming nicely across my midsection. It has an exposed zipper in the back too, which is a nice detail. I tried it on with these black flare leg jeans and a fun, versatile outfit was born!
UGH. That’s the best thing I can say about this leopard print sweater. It was too long for my shape, and even though I tried it on in a 3X (which is all they had), it still accentuated my belly roll in the worst possible way. I even tried tucking it into a pencil skirt to try to save it…but no. If you have a flat torso and don’t have a roll, then maybe this will be more flattering…but on me, it was awful. I couldn’t get out of it fast enough. lol
This was actually a super cute polka dot dress. Simple lines…and polka dots are totally in for fall. I can see this with black tights and a cardigan for the cooler months. This picture isn’t really that bad…but there was just something of the wow-factor missing for me, so I ended up passing on it.
This one shoulder purple dress was a little out of my comfort zone. I generally don’t like exposing my arms, but this wasn’t too horrible. What I didn’t like though was that the position of the belt, coupled with the sheer, light fabric did not lay correctly over my midsection. It kind of puckered out in an unflattering manner. Another pass.
The picture of this sheer polka dot shirt makes it look way better than it did in real life. It actually made me look a little clownish, although for some strange reason it’s slimming in this pic. If you can find it in your local Forever 21, try it on and see what you think. It’s definitely worth a look.
This black utility jacket was cute, but I wasn’t sure I’d get a lot of use for it here in Chicago. It  is a little too light for our fall, and would be too bulky under a larger coat. The polka dot gray skirt was cute, but I wasn’t confident that I would find the right outfit for it.

What have you tried on lately?? Which one of these will you be looking for at Forever 21?

Can you handle these curves?? Vegas #3

Sexy LBD was the theme of the evening…so I decided to embrace my curves and go out on the town! The dress is from Forever 21+ but I don’t see it on their website. You can’t tell in these pictures, but the entire dress is ruched…which hugged all my curves and hit me about mid thigh. I felt sexy and fierce the whole night! My only wish is that I had brought some shape wear to reduce some of the tummy jiggling. lol. Anyway, I had a great time in Vegas!!! I will definitely be going back!

Here are some pictures I took the night I bought the dress…You can see the dress a little better, I think. I love the sleeves! They are gathered at the top, but the fabric sort of drapes under your arms and disguises some of your arm jelly (as I like to call mine, lol).

Do you have a sexy LBD? Where’d you get it??

Vegas Style – Curvy Edition, Night #2

For my second night out in Vegas, we went to the Cosmopolitan. It was gorg-eous! My favorite spot was the Chandelier Bar…I would give anything to have beautiful ropes of crystal hanging around my apartment! *sigh

I wanted to go a little glam…so I wore a beige-y/gold and black graphic print dress with keyhole sleeves and a belt…and styled it with a black cuff, huge black hoops, a side ponytail and red lips! I felt fun, stylish and sexy in this dress and I can’t wait to wear it again!

Love the Chandelier Bar!!!!
