Not-so-blue in LucieLu: A cute and flirty plussize line you’ll love

LucieLu has such adorable and cute tops and dresses, made especially for adorable and cute plussize women. I first discovered LucieLu when I bought a precious little dress at vive la femme, and now I always look forward to adding new pieces to my wardrobe each season!

Right before the holidays, LucieLu sent me this sweet Briar Dress in a gorgeous bright blue-ish purple. Paired with a blazer, black tights, and a wide belt, it’s perfect to wear to the office (ignore my winter commuting boots!).
The pleated skirt is flirty and fun…and the v-neck has the perfect plunge–exposing just the right amount of decolletage. The color-blocking black on the bodice and the lace inserts at the shoulders kick this dress up another notch…making it perfect to transition from day to night.
Take off your blazer and add some heels for a night out! Ditch the tights when it gets warmer…and viola! It translates perfectly to every season.
The same dress comes in two other prints: Ogilvie and Poppy…so cute!

Also, if you are looking for the perfect shrug–not too bulky…check out LucieLu’s Instant Sleeves…I seriously where my black one twice a week.

In my experience, LucieLu’s dresses, shrugs and cardis run true to size, but you might want to size up on the tops. You can order directly from their website, or see what vive la femme has in stock and try it on.

Can you tell I’m a fan? 🙂

OOTD: It’s a Bright, Sunshiny Day Dress from Igigi

A few weeks ago, I attended an Igigi shopping party at vive la femme, hosted by the Plus Fashion Week Chicago folks….and I nearly swooned in delight when I spotted this awesome retro Kayden dress from Igigi in Lemoncello! The sunny yellow top is so cheery and fun with interesting pleated details, while the brown/beige linen A-line skirt flatters and skims the curves. The brown obi belt comes with the dress and helps further define the waistline. I debuted the dress on a bright, sunshiny day and took these pics on my lunchbreak with my friend Wendy.

I chose to polish this look with bright jade earrings, a really cool funky yellow and turquoise statement ring, wooden bangles, and nude pumps.

I kept trying to get my friend Wendy to get the whole Sears Tower (or Willis Tower now) in the pic while she was laying on the sidewalk. We couldn’t stop laughing.

It was back to work after this, but I brought some of the sunshine indoors with me. 🙂

AHHH this dress comes in white and blue with a red belt too! ADORBS!

OOTD: It’s a Gold Boot Kind of Day

Last week, on a perfect fall day, I was feeling especially sassy. So, I pulled these gold boots outta storage and picked out a brightly-colored dress with a fun orange and magenta pattern. All of this work…only to spend the whole day in the office-and back in a storage closet. 🙁 *sigh

Don’t forget to check the budget shoe stores like Payless…you can stumble upon some awesome deals like these gold boots for $25!

Isn’t this the perfect fall dress? The intricate diamond patterns and empire waistline with the  knee length A-line skirt  is probably the most flattering combination of elements that can be pulled together in one dress. The only drawback is that you have to find something to wear underneath it since the neckline is too low without a tank. Perfect for organizing boxes in the storage room, right?? lol
Reaching for the top shelf….
And it all comes tumbling down!!
*dramatic sigh…I have to work SO hard!
Why reach, when you can climb? 😉
Success!! lol
Dress: Sandra Darren via Marshalls (I think), Gold Boots: Payless, Jade Quartz Earrings and Crystal bracelet: Love and Pieces, Gold plated necklace: Embellish

Just another day at the office, of course. lol.

So…here’s a little tip for accessorizing bright colors. I say…go for bright, chunky earrings in a color that does not appear in the rest of your outfit. It’s an unexpected touch that draws attention up to your face and creates even more visual interest. Some days I tend to be very matchy-matchy, but wearing accessories in an unexpected color makes me feel a little edgier and a little more exciting. Sometimes, that’s all it takes, right?

What do you wear to feel sassy or to kick your outfit up a notch?

Queen of the Copy Room in a Purple Igigi Dress

I can’t begin to tell you how comfortable and fabulous this Igigi Iliana Knot Dress made me feel when I wore it to the office the other day. Purple is the color of royalty, of course…so I was feeling like a queen…well, queen of the copy room anyway. 🙂

This dress is one of my the purchases I made at the Cupcakes, Curves, and Cleavage event at vive la femme. It is pretty low cut, so if you aren’t comfortable with your girls, you might want to wear a cami or slip underneath. Also, be very very careful with what you let rub against the fabric. I always carry my purse on the left, and when I took off my dress, I noticed some pilling on that side! So if you get this dress, be careful ladies!

Also, don’t just go with the traditional black shoes and accessories. Go for something unexpected…like a chunky yellow necklace, or some bright green earrings and cuff…or pair it with red shoes like I did! This dress is not meant to be ignored. It deserves to stand out, and so do you!

Outfit Rundown:
