This year is a total Plus Size Revolution! The recent Lane Bryant #PlusisEqual campaign has helped highlight the increasing acceptance of plus size women on runways and in magazines. It’s been amazing to watch and to be a part of. How many times, as a plus size woman, have you been overwhelmed with choices?? It seems to be happening more and more to me lately, and I am reveling in that feeling! This outfit is one more example of how on point Lane Bryant is this season. This simple Venetian Red Ponte Circle Skirt fits perfectly, and paired with this Black Mock Neck Top, I’m feeling all sorts of fierce and fabulous.
I’m so so so ready for fall!! I was thrilled when Yours Clothing, an awesome online plus size boutique out of England, asked me to come up with a Fall Style Post. This fall, I’m totally feelin’ the plaid, the khaki and the leather. So I immediately gravitated toward this Green and Navy Checked Tunic with a tie waist from Yours Clothing. I’m all about the shirt dresses, and this was a perfect, versatile option for the coming season.
Wear it bare-legged (like me!) or pair it with leggings or skinny jeans for a perfect casual fall outfit. And OMG…all of my curvy readers are always asking about wide-calf boots, and I’ve hit the holy grail with Yours Clothing! I’m sporting the Brown Leather Knee High Riding Boot with Buckle…which comes all the way up to an EEE width!
And can we talk about your coat game this fall? LOOK. Look at how amazing this lightweight Green Khaki Cocoon Shaped Parka Jacket with Drape Front is!!!
I’m SO ready for FALL! If you need some fun, on-trend fall fashion options, definitely check out Yours Clothing UK!
Color is the color of the season, and wow, this Coral Honeycomb Wrap Dress from Kiyonna is rocking it! I had 4 people stop me on the way to work to gush and ask where they could get it. It’s no wonder that it’s nearly sold out. If you’re feelin’ this look, and you’re a plus size gal wearing a 2X, head over to Kiyonna right now and buy it. The color is amazing, the fabric lays perfectly, and the sheer honeycomb knit detail at the shoulders and sleeves give this dress even more edge. And did I mention that it’s a wrap dress? So it lays perfectly over curves!
Spring is finally HERE (even though it snowed today in Chicago–I’m going to think positive!). Y’all know I’m usually all about flirty and fun dresses — but I this spring, I decided to focus on finding some casual, chic and versatile pieces that can take me from brunch to drinks to errands and back again.
I absolutely loved the soft faux-leather and gold accents on this Moto Jacket–which is perfect for those spring nights that turn chilly. The embellished overlay tank was comfortable and laid back, but with some fancy sparkle that takes it up a notch. And did I mention these cropped jeggings?? They are the most comfortable and slimming pants I’ve tried in a long time! They hold their shape and have a lot of stretch, so even if you overindulge on Easter Brunch, you’ll still be comfortable and look amazing.
If you’re like me, you’d love to see more plus-size bodies in ad campaigns…but that’s probably not gonna happen any time soon…so…what’s a curvy fashionista to do? Let’s create our own!
Drumroll please…say hello to my new blog series: the “Curvy Copycat!” In this series, I will attempt to recreate fashion magazine ads with plus-size clothes and plus-size bodies. 🙂
Now…the first post in the series is a huge departure from my normal style. When I saw this Diesel ad campaign, I thought it looked cool and tough and a little bizarre. But since I’m up for a challenge, I took it on. So, here’s the original ad:
Of course, I can’t recreate this exactly, but I tried to capture the flavor of the ad–all rocker tomboy-ish. How’d I do??
